They said it couldn’t be done…the machine was fully mechanical, and arrived in very poor condition and after years of sitting idle. 10 months later, we had successfully completed a machine remanufacture, a complete conversion to full 6 axis CNC control, and brought this machine back to productive life. Along the way, each sub-assembly of the machine was meticulously disassembled, cleaned, inspected and rebuilt back to the OEM specifications. All the bearings and seals were replaced, bearing surfaces re-scraped, way covers, wipers and bellows replaced. An entirely new hydraulic and lubrication system with integral chiller was installed on the machine. All the mechanical change gears, gear boxes, extraneous drive shafts, pulleys, motors etc were removed, and the new axes drive mechanisms were redesigned to adapt new drives. We installed a new GE Fanuc 18i-MB CNC with GE Fanuc HVi series drives and motors were installed on the machine. Custom conversational programs were developed and implemented to ease the operator training, and make the machine very simple and efficient to use.
